IG Hiking Trip: Saxerlücke

IG Hiking Event #4: Hoher Kasten - Saxerlücke - Bollenwees - Brülisau

We’ll hike together from Hoher Kasten via Saxerlücke and Bollenwees back to Brülisau. The hike takes 5 - 6 hours of pure walking time but we’ll pass by several restaurants along the way to stop for some food and drinks and can take our time.

(!) Please note that a decent level of fitness and some basic alpine experience is necessary for this hike (!)

Bring appropriate footwear, clothes, plenty of water, sunscreen, etc. Optionally some hiking poles won’t hurt as we’ll be descending for prolonged periods of time.

The hike is 17km long with roughly 600m in elevation gain and 1400m of elevation loss. It follows a ridge line at first and then decends steeply down back into the valley while we pass by two (very cold) lakes. You’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the Alpstein mountains (Säntis!), the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, Liechtenstein and Lake Constance.

Please note that you’ll need to buy a ticket for the cable car (28.-).

I (margash) can pick up people from Gossau SG and anns_banns offered a ride from Wetzikon ZH. Please DM us early if you want to take advantage of this.

If the weather is bad on the scheduled date we’ll reschedule to the 5./6.7.
